We are bridging the Gap Between Education and Employment.
The PIECES Project CIC is a not-for-profit social enterprise supporting young people to thrive through creativity, wellbeing and enterprise.
Everything we do is rooted in creativity, sustainability and care. Every bit of profit we make goes back into supporting more young people.
We are inviting forward-thinking businesses to help us
bring hands-on, creative, and enterprise-driven learning directly
to the young people who need it most.
THE Positively Inspiring & Empowering Creative Enterprises with Sustainability PROJECT -

The Challenges that young people and Employers are facing
1 in 5 young people in England is facing
mental health challenges.
1 in 8 young people aged 16 - 24
are not in employment, education
or training (NEET).
-
Budget cuts and the cost-of-living crisis have led to a decline in enrichment opportunities, particularly in subjects related to creativity and personal development.
-
Many young people are missing out on vital opportunities to build confidence, creativity, and self-belief.
-
Young people are leaving school without the skills, confidence, or networks they need to succeed in the world of work. Especially in industries like manufacturing, where career paths are often invisible to them.
According to the Learning & Work Institute, only 36% of employers believe young people are leaving education with the soft skills they need, such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.
-
Employers are facing a different challenge: a growing skills gap.
-
There is a severe deficit in work-ready soft skills. As the data highlights, school leavers are often entering the workforce without the essential communication, resilience, and teamwork capabilities that businesses desperately need to thrive.
-
There is a disconnected and shrinking talent pipeline. With so many young people disengaged from education and training, companies are struggling to reach, inspire, and recruit local entry-level talent early on, which drives up long-term hiring costs.
-
There is a lack of basic commercial awareness. Without access to practical enterprise experiences, young people are missing out on learning how a business actually operates—leaving employers to foot the bill for heavy on-the-job training in basic problem-solving and innovation.
Our solution and impact so far
The PIECES Project CIC is a not-for-profit social enterprise unlocking the potential of young people through creativity, enterprise, and STEM. We achieve this through hands-on workshops where young people design, build, and sell laser-cut products from recycled wood. So far, we have helped over 4,000 young people build confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
