Our Creative Enterprise Challenge

A 5 day unique and creative learning experience that teaches young people how to start their own product-based business. Imagine "The Apprentice" meets "Dragon's Den" experience.

"The Creative Enterprise Challenge is described by the programme’s leader Sami Lovett as a “real life ‘The Apprentice’ meets ‘Dragon's Den’ experience”. It takes the best aspects of these successful TV shows and blends them with practical skills workshops led by Sami, to form a programme designed to give children a valuable opportunity to develop their skills and confidence."

Our Creative Enterprise Challenge is our flagship workshop program, offering a fully immersive educational experience designed to boost confidence, raise aspirations, and leave a lasting impact on young people.

Over five days, ten young people (also known as Challengers) are split into two teams of five to meet a sustainable design brief that involves designing a brand, product, marketing video and start-up business plan. They design and make products using recycled materials and learn product design, graphic design and laser cutting manufacture skills throughout the week.

The challengers also learn business skills to cost their products to make a profit at retail. At the end of the week, each team has its ‘Dragon’s Den’ moment where they present and pitch their creations to an expert panel of judges who are successful entrepreneurs themselves.

Each team identifies a target market and corporate client. If they are happy with their finished products they can then go on to sell them to these customers should they want to.

"The Creative Enterprise Challenge aims to educate and inspire young people, who will walk away at the end of the week with so much more than a product and a business plan. We’ve seen the transformation that’s possible in just one week in previous programmes, with young people often starting the week a little nervous but by the end of the week they’ve made new friends and built their confidence.”

Sustainability:

Teacher Testimonial

“The Creative Enterprise scheme gave students the opportunity for student to learn in an out-of-class environment.

As the students were Key Stage 4, it also gave them the chance to experience a more self-led style of thinking and working, which is great for their preparation for adulthood. Our students have never had the chance to work in such a free and creative manner.”
